While calls for basement pumping have calmed down for now, first responders were busy yesterday, especially in Indiana Borough where crews were called out for a fire at an apartment near Mack Park.
The call went out at 2:14 PM at an apartment at 759 Maple Street. Indiana, Homer City, and Creekside fire departments were initially dispatched along with the Hazmat team and Citizen’s Ambulance. Indiana Fire Association officials say that flames were visible, but crews were able to use fire extinguishers until further trucks arrived to douse the flames.
No injuries were reported, and only one person was displaced by the fire. That person’s identity has not been released. Fire officials estimate that $5000 worth of damage was reported. The fire was reportedly accidental in nature due to electrical reasons.
