Pitt kicks off the 2024 campaign tomorrow at Acrisure Stadium against Kent State, and it will be a new-look Panthers offense led by new offensive coordinator Kade Bell. The former Western Carolina O.C. will be working his up-tempo offense with a quarterback who is not only new to him but is new to Pitt…Alabama transfer Eli Holstein was named the starting quarterback yesterday, beating out Nate Yarnell.
Bell was impressed that Holstein, a four-star prospect coming out of high school, recognized that he was behind Yarnell after playing with a tight hamstring through the spring.
Bell loves the up-tempo, no-huddle offense that keeps defenses off-balance and unable to get their rotations in. He looks for a snap anywhere from seven to 15 seconds after the previous play ends.
Pitt is coming off a 3-9 season. Tomorrow’s game kicks off at noon on WCCS.
