A bill designed to protect the youngest victims of sexual abuse or exploitation has been advanced by the Senate Health and Human Services Committee.
Senator Michele Brooks says the Reporting Evidence of Sexual Crimes and Underaged Exploitation or RESCUE bill would require healthcare facilities to report suspected sexual abuse or exploitation of children under the age of 14 to child protective services and law enforcement.
Brooks says the bill aims to make sure facilities stand up for child victims who too often receive no justice under the law.
