The Steelers made eleven cuts yesterday as they began paring the roster down to the 53-man limit. They have until four o’clock this afternoon to trim 27 more players off the team.
Among those let go were kicker Matthew Wright, running back Daijun Edwards, wide receiver Jacob Copeland and offensive linemen Anderson Hardy, Tyler Beach and Devery Hamilton, all of whom were with the Steelers since the beginning of training camp. Five others who were in-camp additions were released (Kiondre Thomas, Marquiss Spencer, Kyaha Tezino, Tyler Beach and and T.J. Luther.)
Defensive lineman Keeanu Benton is in no danger of being cut. He’s considered a budding star as he begins his second year. Benton says his second training camp felt a whole lot different from his first.
Benton says he has leaned on the experience of veteran Cam Heyward to help him become an NFL player.

Steelers fans hoping for a reunion with wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster will be disappointed. He signed yesterday to rejoin another of his former teams, the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Smith-Schuster was their leading receiver in 2022. He was let go by the New England Patriots this month.
