Fall semester classes begin tomorrow at IUP and the rest of the schools in the State System of Higher Education, and it’s the last kickoff to an academic year overseen by Chancellor Dan Greenstein, who will be leaving his post on October 11th.
Greenstein began at the State System on September 4th, 2018. He announced his resignation on July 23rd, and in an open letter to the PASSHE family, he did not reveal his plans except to say that “a compelling opportunity presented itself to work nationally,” an opportunity he will accept.
The State System announced that a national search will be undertaken to find a new chancellor, but since then no plans have been announced.
At IUP, classes this fall end on December 9th with Finals to begin the next day. Winter commencement is December 14th, with the spring semester to begin on January 21st.
