We’re almost ready to start the college football season, but Pitt is also thinking about basketball. The Panthers yesterday released their men’s basketball non-conference schedule, which includes eleven games, seven of them at the Petersen Events Center. Five of the games will be against schools from power conferences, which should help Pitt in considerations for the NCAA Tournament (should they win them.)
The highlights include games against LSU, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Mississippi State, and of course, the Backyard Brawl against West Virginia, November 15th at Pitt.
The non-conference schedule tips off with Radford at The Pete on November 4th, followed by Murray State on the 8th, Gardner-Webb on the 11th, then West Virginia. The first road game will be November 22nd against LSU at the Greenbrier Classic in West Virginia. They’ll play their second game of the Classic against either Central Florida or Wisconsin two days later, then visit Ohio State on November 29th, Mississippi State on December 4th, and finally, the Panthers return home to host Eastern Kentucky on December 11th and Sam Houston State on the 21st.
