While many people are out shopping for the last minute gift, many are also considering buying a ticket for the Christmas Day drawing of the Powerball game as its jackpot is once again reaching high levels.
No one hit the jackpot on Wednesday, so the Jackpot has rolled over to an estimated $400 million annuity prize for Saturday’s drawing, with an estimated cash prize of $292 million. That number could go up as more tickets are sold across the nation for the lottery draw. The last time someone won the Powerball jackpot was in early October, as a ticket purchased in California was worth close to $700 million. The highest Powerball jackpot was $1.58 billion in early 2016 that was split between winners in California, Florida and Tennessee.
By the way, the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot, that is matching all five regular numbers and the Powerball, are 1 in 292 million.
