With classes starting on Thursday, the Marion Center school board approved several motions connected with the upcoming school year at their meeting last night.
The board approved HHSDR Architects out of Pittsburgh to seek cost proposals for survey updates and soil testing for the sidewalk, retaining wall and elevator at the W.A. McCreery/high school complex. Superintendent Clint Weimer said the sidewalk and retaining wall are the biggest areas of concern.
The board also approved the replacement of the hot water tank at McCreery Elementary at a cost not to exceed $16,200. Weimer said the current tank was beyond its life expectancy and that it will be paid for with capital project funds.
In other business, Weimer said he was excited for the academic year to start later this week and that he is looking forward to the first year of the reconfiguration between Rayne and McCreery Elementary. Students in grades Pre-K through 2 will attend Rayne Elementary while grades 3 through 6 will report to McCreery Elementary for classes.
