After two scoreless 15-minute overtime periods, the West Shamokin Wolves knocked off defending champ Everett, 3-2 in a shootout to win the District 6 Double-A soccer championship at Mansion Park in Altoona last night.
Everett took a 1-0 lead in the first half, but the Wolves’ Liam Alese scored twice to make it 2-1. Then Everett’s Bailey Foor scored in the second half to tie it at 2.
After the two overtimes, it went to a shootout. Everett got a goal from Foor, but Liam Alese, Luke Alese, and Tristan Doverspike all scored for the Wolves, and goalie Sam Skamai stopped Everett’s Brady Foor, while another Everett attempt hit the crossbar, nailing down the win and the first West Shamokin District 6 title.
