After a flurry of school board meetings last week, the seven Indiana County school districts are prepared for the start of school this week. River Valley kicks things off on Wednesday, with Homer-Center, Indiana, Marion Center, Penns Manor, Purchase Line, and United to follow on Thursday.
Indiana Area has two committee meetings scheduled on Monday. The agenda for the Buildings, Grounds, and Transportation Committee includes the Eisenhower Elementary project, an ESCO Project presentation, an upgrade proposal for the kitchens at Ben Franklin and East Pike elementary schools, and other items, including the 2024-25 transportation update. The Outreach Committee is also scheduled to meet tomorrow.
Meanwhile, IUP’s Welcome Week for new students has arrived. Students continue moving in today and the activities at the start of the week are mostly recreational, with academic and group meetings happening later in the week.
IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll delivers his annual Opening of the Academic Year speech at Fisher Auditorium at 9 o’clock Friday morning and Fall Semester classes start next Monday, the 26th.
