The Marion Center Fire Department has announced that it has received close to $100,000 in federal grant money.
The $93,330 was acquired through FEMA’s assistance to firefighters grant program. As of this month, FEMA has made 1,553 grant awards and handed out $293 million across the AFG, Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response and Fire Prevention and Safety grants. The money will be used to purchase new turnout gear for all the department’s members.
The grant will save the fire department close to $100,000 to replace nearly 20-year-old gear that the crews wear when they fight fires.
