Pirates fans rejoiced at PNC Park as the bucs snapped a ten-game losing streak with a win last night against the Seattle Mariners. Greg Brown reports.
The win did come with a bit of a cost as Andrew McCutchen left the game with some discomfort in his left knee and Oneil Cruz left with left ankle discomfort. Both are being evaluated and are being treated as day-to-day. The Pirates and the Mariners play this afternoon, with Bailey Falter starting for the Bucs (5-7 4.07 ERA) against Luis Castillo (10-11, 3.40 ERA). Airtime at 12:40 on WCCS, first pitch at 1:05.
In other Pirates news, Colin Holderman threw a live batting practice session yesterday at PNC Park, his first since he was placed on the IL on Aug. 8. Manager Derek Shelton said depending on how Holderman comes out of the session, he could either throw another live batting practice or begin a rehab assignment. Holderman has been on the IL with a right wrist strain and is expected to return later this month or in early September.
