The Pirates hired three minor league coaches yesterday. Dewey Robinson joins the organization as special advisor for pitching development. He’s been the Tampa Bay Rays’ director of pitching development for the last twelve years.
Dan Meyer will be pitching coach at Triple-A Indianapolis, replacing Joel Hanrahan, who left the team to look for other opportunities.
Chris Truby will be the Pirates minor league infield coordinator.
Former Pirates first base coach Kimera Martee collapsed and died yesterday while visiting his father in Omaha, Nebraska. He was 49. The cause of death was not yet known. Martee coached for twelve seasons in the Pirates’ system, the last three as the first base coach for Clint Hurdle. He coached with the Phillies in 2020 and with the Tigers last year.
