The Indiana County Commissioners handed out congratulations to several different groups at their meeting Wednesday morning.
One entity was the Indiana County Junior League Softball team that went to the World Series and earned fourth-best team in the world. Coach Jenny Brewer said that the girls are now seeing in-person the support that the entire county has been showing during their run.
The Commissioners also announced that Sherene Hess was elected next year’s president of the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania at the association’s recent convention in Gettysburg. Hess said that she is proud to represent the county and knows there will be a lot of work ahead of her.
CCAP also honored Indiana County Chief Clerk Robin Maryai as Chief Clerk of the year.
The commissioners also approved two expenses for the opioid settlement plan. One of them is for $150,000 for the Alice Paul House being paid out at $75,000 a year for two years. The other is a $15,900 payment for the Care Center of Indiana County.
