The third week of training camp opened for Pitt yesterday at the UPMC Sports Performance Complex and Coach Pat Narduzzi said things are looking good for his team following an intrasquad scrimmage over the weekend.
Narduzzi said the defense won this weekend’s scrimmage “handedly” forcing two turnovers over 141 snaps. He adds the quarterback room, including redshirt junior Nate Yarnell, looked “solid” over the weekend, but the defense had an extra burst of energy which allowed them to dominate the scrimmage.
Narduzzi said his quarterbacks tried to do too much to win the position battle, rather than beat the defense.
Receiver Konata Mumpfield is familiar with quarterback battles, as he experienced it at Akron.
Camp continues for the Panthers. They open their season August 31st against Kent State on WCCS.
