BOYS GOLF
At Chestnut Ridge yesterday, River Valley claimed a quad match from Homer-Center, Conemaugh Valley and Ferndale after shooting a collective 206 on the day. Jake Pynos medaled for the Panthers with a 36, while Jeremy Reed and Brady Doak each shot a 39.
Brayden Rado medaled for Homer-Center with a 41. Marcus Coy followed with a 42.
River Valley returns to action Wednesday to host Bishop Guilfoyle, while Homer-Center battles Northern Cambria at the Chetremon in Cherry Tree.
GIRLS GOLF
River Valley overcame some early rust and beat Punxsutawney, 267-306. Maren Dunlap led the Panthers with a match-low 48. Madigan Dunlap followed with a 49 and Ashley Pynos added a 50. Next up is a home match tomorrow against Altoona.
COACH HIRES
At the Indiana school board meeting last night, the board voted to re-hire Dan Petroff as the varsity baseball coach, Harold Wilson as head softball coach, Matt Neil as boys’ tennis coach, and Steve Cochran as the head track & field coach.
At Purchase Line’s meeting, Ray Hill was re-hired as the head baseball coach, Mike Ninosky as the head softball coach, and Sean Mack as head track & field coach.
And Northern Cambria’s board re-hired Jaycelyn Fleming, Joey Camut and Kim McCracken as assistant volleyball coaches at a special meeting last night. Several players from the Colts’ volleyball team showed up to the meeting to support their three assistants, along with head coach Alyssa Walters.
