According to a recent article measuring which states have the highest and lowest count of underprivileged children, Pennsylvania ranked 38th in the country, and even worse in health rankings.
Wallethub, a national personal finance company, gave Pennsylvania a total score of 36.57, a socio-economic welfare rank of 36th, 40th in health, and 32nd in education. Pennsylvania also has the second lowest percentage of maltreated children in the U.S., although the exact rate was not released.
West Virginia has the worst score in the rankings with an average of 66.12 underprivileged children, followed by Alaska at 63.85 and Mississippi at 59.88. New Jersey had the lowest average at 22.11.
