The Steelers wasted no time in correcting mistakes following Friday’s 20-12 loss to the Houston Texans at Acrisure Stadium. After an off day on Saturday, the team returned to St. Vincent College in Latrobe on Sunday to zero in on those problem areas.
Coach Mike Tomlin said they took yesterday’s practice to hone in on fine tuning mental mistakes, especially ones that were on display Friday night, and that they will turn their attention towards the Buffalo Bills later on in the week.
Tomlin said Friday’s game was a result of several newcomers getting acclimated to playing in a stadium atmosphere, and he’s expecting those players to look much better this week.
One of the biggest problems the Steelers had was snapping the football. Tomlin said that has always been a problem in football.
Tomlin also gave updates on several injured players, including first-round pick and offensive lineman Troy Fautanu, who left Friday’s game with a sprained knee. The coach said it’s a minor injury and that Fautanu will likely be out two weeks, at most.
He adds several starters were given the day off or reduced duties since it’s early in the week.
Training camp continues today starting at 10:30 a.m.
