United School District was recently approved to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision, a program that allows all students to receive one free breakfast and lunch daily, regardless of income or free/reduced lunch status.
According to a post on the district’s Facebook page, families within the United School District will be relieved of paying for a daily breakfast and/or lunch, and it also means three locations will be set up for students to receive a free and nutritional breakfast each morning. Those will be the cafeteria, outside the gymnasium, and outside the auditorium.
Students with negative cafeteria balances will still have to settle them, as the CEP program does not resolve any outstanding balance.
