State Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding has announced the names of the singers who received the most social media votes to win the “Oh Say Can You Sing?” contest to sing the national anthem next month at the State Farm Show. Two of the singers are from Indiana County.
Gabbi Wirick and Cheyenne Doell, both United High School students, will open the Farm Show by singing the national anthem on its second day, January 9th.
In addition to Gabbi and Cheyenne, singers from Armstrong, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Mifflin counties will sing the anthem at the Farm Show, which runs from January 8th to the 15th in Harrisburg.
The top twenty finalists were selected by a panel of judges and their entries were posted on Facebook for the contest. Each performer will be featured live on the Farm Show’s Facebook page as they sing on their given day.
