Heavy rainfall that came through the area yesterday caused flooding on some area roadways and triggered some basement pumping details for fire departments.
The construction zone on Wayne Avenue near the KCAC was one area that saw significant flooding, and the Indiana Fire Association reported at least three cars stuck in that area at 4:14 PM. Indiana Fire Association’s rescue squad and swift water technicians rescued three drivers, and once the flood receded, they were able to tow the cars away. Officials also said they dealt with a handful of basement pumping assignments.
Power lines were also reported down during yesterday’s storms. One such call was along Route 210 in South Mahoning Township at 2:15 PM, and the other was 3:34 PM along Nashville Road in Grant Township. Plumville fire department was called out for the first incident, while Marion Center and Commodore Fire Departments were dispatched for the second call.
As far as power outages go, no outages are reported this morning by REA Energy Cooperative members, and Penelec reports that less than 20 people are without power in Indiana County.
