The Penguins had the first-teamers back on the ice after eight of them took Saturday’s game off, but they couldn’t muster any offense and suffered their second straight loss to the Capitals.
Paul Steigerwald has the recap.
Coach Dan Muse says the Penguins have an important week ahead of them, with a game tomorrow in St. Louis to wrap up the regular season and then the Stanley Cup playoffs starting on Saturday.
Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang posed for photos with Alexander Ovechkin before the game and Ovechkin pulled a surprise by stepping in for the opening faceoff yesterday (which Crosby won). Crosby appreciates having the chance to share the ice with “The Great Eight”.
Tomorrow’s game in St. Louis faces off at 9:30.
