The Penguins’ grueling week continues tonight with their third game in four nights, in Tampa Bay against the Lightning.
The Pens are in second place in the Metro Division with 92 points, eight behind the Hurricanes and three ahead of the Islanders. The Lightning are in second place in the Atlantic Division with 98 points, two behind the Sabres. The two teams have split their two games so far this season.
It’s been some week for forward Anthony Mantha and March was some month for defenseman Erik Karlsson. Mantha scored his career-high 30th goal of the season on Tuesday in the Pens’ win over Detroit and yesterday he and his wife Caitlyn welcomed their third child, a baby girl named Estelle. Three-time Norris Trophy winner Karlsson capped a tremendous March by being named the NHL’s Second Star of the Month. He scored nine goals with 15 assists for 24 points in seventeen games in March. By the way, the First Star of the Month was Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov, who will be on the ice against Karlsson and the Pens tonight.
Pregame for the Pens and Lightning airs tonight at six o’clock on 92.5 FM U92.
