The response from the community to help a family who lost everything to a fire on Monday has been overwhelming.
The Miller family’s home was destroyed in a structure fire reported on March 30th, but the family was able to get out uninjured with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The Coal Run/McIntyre fire department responded to the need by organizing a collection effort to help the family out. Officials said on the department’s Facebook page that in five hours, many people contributed clothing, shoes, dog supplies, bath and hygiene products, a vacuum cleaner, a coffee maker, food and gift cards. The family has also accepted a gift of temporary housing for the next few months as they try to get back on their feet and into a new home in the McIntyre community.
Clothes are no longer being accepted, but donations of gift cards, plates and cutlery, items for the kitchen and other appliances are being welcomed. Items that can be donated include:
