District Attorney Robert Manzi has announced the expansion of a statewide initiative in Indiana County.
Manzi, along with Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday, held a press conference today to talk about the Law Enforcement Treatment Initiative (or LETI). Indiana County joined this initiative back in 2023 to help those suffering from substance abuse. The program empowers law enforcement officers as well as others to guide individuals who are suffering from addiction into treatment, rather than diverting them into the criminal system. The county is now expanding this initiative towards other mental health struggles and treatments as well as substance abuse disorders.
Attorney General Sunday explained why an initiative like this is so important.
Some have called this initiative a “way out” for criminals, but Sunday said this is about being proactive rather than reactive.
