IUP has signed a clinical training agreement for its proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine with Sharon Regional Health System.
This marks the 20th such agreement that has been signed for the proposed school. These agreements are part of the accreditation process and the school is now at 230% of the needed clinical training spots. Students in the proposed school will normally have two years of classroom instruction to start then learn in the field for years three and four at local clinical sites.
Sharon Regional Health System President Dr. Valeri Roth called the partnership a “meaningful investment in the future of healthcare in the Shenango Valley. By welcoming medical students into our clinical environment, we are helping to build a strong pipeline of future physicians who will understand our community, train alongside our dedicated teams, and ultimately strengthen access to high-quality care.”
Founding Dean of the Proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine Dr. Miko Rose said students who will work at Sharon Regional Health System will get to see first-hand “how important rural health care facilities are to their communities.”
