Geraldine F. “Gerry” Beck of Blairsville passed away March 23, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Born November 4, 1936 in Irwin, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Rosella Bruggeman.
Gerry was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Blairsville. Prior to her retirement she worked at Westinghouse Airbrake in Wilmerding and had a proud 40 years of service. Before moving to Blairsville, she lived in Murrysville 43 years with her husband George W. Beck. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved her family more than anything. Her two grandsons, Christopher and Cason, were the apple of her eye. She especially loved hearing Christopher play her songs on the piano and sing and watching Cason play baseball. She was a very proud grandma. She was always eager to make them a special breakfast too.
She was kind, generous and enjoyed a good laugh with her daughters and truly had a beautiful life making many memories. In her early years, she loved spending time on the water with her husband at Lake Erie and Raystown Lake where she taught her daughters to water ski and passed along her love for the water. They also enjoyed snow skiing, camping and hunting. She loved to tell the story of her getting the “biggest bird”. Later in life she loved playing bingo, casino trips, card night with family and friends, watching movies and Fox News. She enjoyed a great cup of coffee from Dunkin and a good dessert.
She truly cherished all the good times she spent over the years with her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends. She had many stories to tell and shared special memories of them all. She loved her long phone conversations with her nephew Tommy and niece Carol.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two sisters: Norma Keenan and husband Russ and Vera Svec and husband Tom; two brothers: Charles Bruggeman and wife Debbie and Walter Bruggeman.
She is survived by her two daughters: Georgia Long and husband Carl of Blairsville and Janie Esch and husband James of Blairsville; two Grandsons: Cason Long of Blairsville and Christopher Tokarsky and fiancé Jon Powell of Tennessee; her brother: Keith Bruggeman and wife Deb of Level Green and many cherished nieces, nephews and extended family.
Her daughters would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to our cousin Carol, Uncle Keith and Jackie for making it possible for mom to be at home. We would also like to thank the entire AHN team for your compassion and care.
The family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home & Monument Company, 25 W. Market St. Blairsville, PA 15717 on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
