NASA says the meteor that exploded over northeast Ohio on Tuesday was actually a small asteroid that weighed about seven tons.
Videos of the asteroid show a huge fireball streaking across the morning sky as it broke up over Medina County, causing a sonic boom that could be heard as far away as Pennsylvania and New York. NASA says the asteroid was traveling about 45-thousand miles-per-hour before it started splitting up.
It scattered fragments across southern Medina County, and that nearby residents are now scouring the area for pieces of the meteor.
