Bubba Chandler gave up only a solo home run over five innings of work last night as the Pirates came from behind and beat the Braves 5-2. Chandler struck out eight as he relied on his four-seam fastball which he threw 74 percent of the time, including 18 straight at one point.
On his birthday, Alika Williams was 2-for-2 and drove in two runs in the eighth inning after the Bucs had scored on a bases-loaded walk to Shalin Polanco. Williams also scored a run on a single by Javier Rivas.
Mike Clevinger pitches tonight for the Pirates against the Tigers in Lakeland. The airtime on WCCS is 6 PM.
Infielders Termarr Johnson, Nick Cimillo, Duce Gourson, and Davis Wendzel were reassigned to the Pirates minor league camp yesterday along with outfielder Ronny Simon and pitchers Nick Dombkowski and Oddanier Mosqueda.

At the World Baseball Classic, Team USA plays Canada tonight in the quarterfinals, with Logan Webb of the Giants scheduled to pitch. If they win, Paul Skenes will throw in the semis on Sunday against either the Dominican Republic or Korea. The D.R. and Korea play at 6:30, and the U.S. plays Canada at 8.
Tomorrow, Puerto Rico plays Italy and Venezuela plays Japan.
