A preliminary hearing is scheduled today for a man charged with attempted carjacking in Homer City last December.
Court documents show 57-year-old Scipio Griffin faces two counts of robbery of a motor vehicle and single counts of resisting arrest, evading arrest or detention on foot, simple assault and harassment in connection with an incident on December 22nd. On that day, troopers said he tried to take two different cars on North Main Street. In the first, he injured a victim as he pulled her out of the car, but did not go too far as he believed she had a key fob needed to operate the car. After a second attempt failed, he hopped into the bed of a pickup truck and fled on foot after it stopped at the police station. He was found near Ridge Avenue and Route 119 in Center Township and after a chase on foot, he was taken into custody.
The hearing is set for this afternoon in front of District Judge Susanne Steffee.
