The son of Stanford S. And Ruby Katherine (O’neil) Webb, he was born on February 10, 1943 in Indiana, PA.
Rodney was a lifelong resident of the Chevy Chase community in Indiana. Rodney was known for his musical talents and playing the guitar in church and in bands since he was a young man. He was a member of Kings Deliverance Holiness Church in Vandergrift, PA and of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Indiana, PA. Rodney’s faith was an important part of his life. He has served as a deacon and musician at both Kings Deliverance and Faith Temple.
He is survived by his 5 children: Tami (Stan) Petrigac of Indiana; Darvina Miller of Indiana; Kris (Heather) Riddle of Parker, CO, Brandi (Shawn) Jones of Indiana; and Stephanie Webb of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 1.5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved brother, Elder Stanford Webb, Jr.
He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara June, his parents, his sisters Deborah and Beverly, 1 son Rodney Flick, and 2 grandsons, Rodney Alan Webb and Julien Diante Jones.
Rod, or Deac as his friends called him, began playing in adult bands at the young age of 14. Local DJs and promoters would drive him to and from gigs, even on school nights. His parents reluctantly allowed this as long as he was up for church on Sunday morning. He, along with a few other local boys, formed bands playing at school dances, garage parties, and fraternity parties. He played several instruments, all by ear as he had no formal training. His passion was for the “lead guitar”. Those who were honored to hear him play say he could make a guitar speak.
Deac will be remembered as “The Melody Maker” who believed “but without faith, it is impossible to please God, but he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.”
Visitation will take place from 4pm to 7pm on Monday, March 9th at Lefdahl Funeral Home in Indiana. The funeral will take place with additional visitation at 9am at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ with the service following at 11am.
Flowers can be sent to Lefdahl Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to an organization of your choosing in his name.
