The Penguins are looking to break a two-game losing skid with matchup this afternoon against their hated rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers. Due to our coverage of IUP’s playoff run, we will be unable to bring you the Pens game today.
It was calm at the Pens offices on trade deadline day yesterday. The team only made one move, trading a third-round draft pick in this year’s draft for reserve forward Elmer Soderblom from the Detroit Red Wings. Dubas said at a news conference yesterday that while everyone expects a lot of activity on the final day of trading, the Pens have made a lot of moves over the course of the season.
The only other move made yesterday was the signing of goalie Taylor Gauthier to a one-year NHL contract worth $775,000 annually at the NHL Level. He has been loaned back to the Wheeling Nailers for now. Dubas said that he wanted to make sure they had a fifth goaltender on the roster after Fillip Larsen returned to Sweden.
