The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office is releasing findings of an investigation into the death of a woman at the county jail.
Chief Deputy Coroner Ken Bacha now says 32-year-old Amber Knepshield died by suicide at the jail back in early October. The specific manner of death is listed as asphyxiation due to hanging. Knepshield was being held on drug-related offenses out of New Kensington and had been locked up for about a week, according to county records.
Another suicide was reported at the facility in 2024.
