Two people died in a three-vehicle crash this morning on Route 22 in East wheatfield Township.
The initial report came in at 8:30 this morning. Tyler Ofman with the Clyde fire department described what the scene was like when crews first arrived.
Trooper Danielle Noble with the State Police said that a pickup was going on Bowser Road in East Wheatfield Township when he ran through the stop sign and entered Route 22 when it was hit by a garbage truck and a tractor trailer that were headed East on 22. The two people in the pickup truck were killed. Their identities were not released. She said that people will need to be careful going on to Route 22 off of the side roads and those on 22 need to watch their speed.
Officials shut down a stretch of 22 around the scene of the accident. The Westbound lanes remain closed but Eastbound lanes are open. No word on when crews will have the scene cleared.

A portion of Route 22 is closed for a multi-vehicle crash in West Wheatfield Township.
Indiana County 911 reported the crash at 8:39 this morning. Clyde, Armagh/East Wheatfield and Blairsville fire department were sent to the scene along with state police and Citizen’s Ambulance. Details on the crash have not been released, but Clyde fire officials posted on the department’s Facebook page that Route 22 at Mount Tabor Church Road would be closed for an extended period of time, and they are asking people to avoid the area. Reports say that a tractor-trailer truck caught fire at the scene.
