Steelers general manager Omar Khan took questions yesterday at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, and said “all options are on the table,” whether it’s at quarterback or any other position.
Khan said the Steelers “like Will (Howard) a lot,” as the quarterback heads into his second season, and they have been communicating with Aaron Rodgers as well.
He says he is looking for a particular type of quarterback.
Khan says he would welcome Rodgers back to Pittsburgh.
One of the mysteries of last season was the Steelers not using tight end Pat Freiermuth nearly as much as in the past. Khan insists they still highly value “Muth.”
Khan is looking forward to showing off Pittsburgh to the NFL when the draft comes to town in April.
The GM said that tight end Darnell Washington, who broke his arm in a Week 17 win over Cleveland, and safety DeShon Elliott, who missed nine regular season games and the single playoff game with a knee injury, are recovering nicely and should have no restrictions when training camp begins in July. Starting right tackle Broderick Jones is being “monitored” after suffering a “significant” neck injury and missing the last six games.
