Byron Stauffer told the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors last week that renovation work is scheduled on two historic buildings in downtown Indiana. Speaking on behalf of the Indiana County Development Corporation and the Office of Planning & Development, Stauffer said the former county courthouse, which currently houses the corporate offices of First Commonwealth Bank, will soon get a new roof, funded in part by a state grant, and bids have been awarded for the roof and façade of the Indiana Theater building, which will also include signage and other work.
Stauffer also told the board about the county’s ongoing work to provide housing for workers coming to the area for the Homer City Redevelopment project, including an RV park at the 119 Business Park in Center Township. He also reported that the county is working with realtors and land-owners for other housing solutions.
He also spoke about a proposed request for proposal for the development of a welcome kit for the county, a joint venture with the Center for Economic Operations through a state grant from the state Department of Community & Economic Development.
