Indiana County’s Courts of Common Pleas will be busy Monday, with jury selection scheduled for six trials and a motions hearing in one of them.
Among the defendants scheduled for trial is Casey Kern Bush, who will turn 48 years old on Thursday. He’s accused of trying to burn down the house he had formerly rented on Salt Street in Saltsburg. The incident happened in September of 2024. Bush is charged with eight felonies and related offenses. Police found diesel fuel and paint spilled in the house with burnt cigarettes nearby and they later found Bush in Loyalhanna Township, smelling of the fuel and with the paint splashed on his clothing.
Also in court on Monday, jury selection is scheduled for Matthew James Ohler of Indiana, for trespass and drug charges; for Deven Foltz of Armagh, charged with aggravated assault of a victim under six years of age, along with strangulation, endangerment, and related offenses; and for Phillip and Melanie Barnett of Robinson, each of whom is charged with multiple counts of endangering the welfare of their children and reckless endangerment.
Finally, jury selection is scheduled for the trial of Dennis Michael Blackie of Rossiter for dog law violations, with a motions hearing also scheduled. Last week a motion was granted to consolidate this trial with another, probably resulting in a delay.
