The District 6 playoffs continued last night, with a couple of Class AA Heritage Conference teams setting themselves up for a third meeting of the season, and Homer-Center suffering a close loss.

In the boys 2A quarterfinals, undefeated United steamrolled Portage. Todd Marino has the story.

In the semifinals on Friday, United will take on another Heritage Conference East foe in Northern Cambria. The Colts galloped by Juniata Valley, sprinting to a 28-6 first quarter lead and coming away with a 77-51 win. Dylan Bodek led the way with 16 points, with Parker Shutty adding 15, Malik Fox 14, and Luke Blickenderfer 11 for the 16-7 Colts.
United’s Rodkey was already focused on Northern Cambria last night.
In the other half of the Double-A draw, Homer-Center almost pulled the upset, on the road at second-seeded Claysburg-Kimmel. Mark Bertig was there.
Homer-Center coach Paul Pohley took great pride in the Wildcats’ never-say-die approach.
Pohley says the Wildcats’ game didn’t hold up in the fourth quarter.
In the semis, Claysburg-Kimmel will play third seed Bishop McCort, which beat Moshannon Valley 64-42.
The District 6 AA and AAA girls playoffs roll on. In Triple-A, we have Marion Center against West Shamokin on Renda Digital TV tonight, while on Cat Country 106.3 FM, it’s River Valley hosting Penns Valley. Airtimes for both games are at 6:45.
In Double-A, the United girls travel to Bellwood-Antis, with the winner to face top seed Penns Manor, which has a first-round bye.
