After weeks of decline, activity related to influenza in Pennsylvania rose sharply last week.
Pennsylvania reported that the number of lab-confirmed flu cases across the state sharply rose to 93,612 for the season to date. That’s an increase of 2964 over the week. 390 flu-related deaths were also reported for the season, according to the National Center for Health Statistics. For the week that ended on February 14th, the percent of emergency room visits that resulted in a flu diagnosis remains low for all age groups across the state.
So far this year, Indiana County has seen 258 cases of lab-confirmed flu.
As far as RSV goes, activity is on the rise across the state, with 16,257 cases reported in Pennsylvania for the respiratory virus season. Over last week, the percentage of emergency room RSV diagnoses remained low. Indiana County has seen 25 cases of RSV this season.
