Another lawsuit is now filed against Westmoreland Hospital and four former staff members over the alleged mistreatment of patients.
The latest litigation is centered on incidents involving patient Shirley Stouffer. Plaintiffs claim nurses and administrators recorded video of Stouffer crying and begging to go home while she was admitted with dementia and a heart condition in June of 2024. This is the third lawsuit tied to similar accusations, with none of them resolved so far.
Former Westmoreland Hospital employees Peter Castellano and Melissa Tompkins did spend short terms in jail last year after pleading guilty to misdemeanor abuse of a care-dependent person.
