The buzz in Bradenton so far has been baseball’s number-one prospect, the 19-year-old phenom Konnor Griffin, who is competing for the starting shortstop job. From manager Donnie Kelly to Cy Young Award-winning pitcher Paul Skenes, who struck out Griffin on three fastballs Wednesday during a live batting practice, everyone seems excited to watch Griffin’s every move.
Kelly says Griffin’s bat, glove, arm, and maturity are all off the charts, and that’s creating all of the excitement.
Kelly is eager to see Griffin perform at spring training.
Griffin is enjoying the experience of fitting in with the Bucs.

The Pirates’ full squad officially reports to Bradenton on Monday, although they are all there already. The first exhibition game is a week from tomorrow against the Orioles.
