The owner and namesake of Ruthie’s Diner has died less than a month after the eatery was destroyed in a fire.
An obituary for Doris Ruth Stevens says she passed away at her home in Somerset County on Saturday at the age of 92. Her husband, Fred, died just this past November after the couple spent over 70 years together.
The diner they owned since the mid-1980’s on Route 30 in Ligonier Township was destroyed on January 20th after flames broke out near an appliance in the kitchen after close.
