UPDATE: As of Monday morning, the Blairsville McDonald’s is open for normal business.
A fast food restaurant in Blairsville is shut down indefinitely after a fire was reported on Sunday.
Indiana County 911 reported the fire at 10:50 AM at the McDonald’s on Resort Plaza Drive. Black Lick, Blairsville, Indiana, Coral-Graceton, Homer City, Armagh and Clyde Fire Departments were sent out along with the RIT team and Citizens’ Ambulance. Black Lick Fire Chief Josh Hutcheson said that it was a grease fire that started in the ventilation system for the fryers. Hutcheson reported minor damage to the building. After the fire was put out, crews checked the building for any extensions in the exhaust system.
The restaurant is closed for now as workers cleanup the dry chemicals used to put the fire out.
