The road to the KCAC presented was a thrilling night for all four of the teams vying for the Heritage Conference Championships in Boys and Girls Basketball. In the girls championship, Marion Center won 36-35 over the Penns Manor comets, coming down to the last play. After Macie Miller made a free throw late to break a 36-35 tie, it came down to a long inbound pass from Penns Manor that was ultimately picked off by Gracynn Silvis
Marion Center was lead by Olivia Ruddock with 11 points, and Natalie Black with eight. Macie Miller had six, including the game-clinching free-throw. Penns Manor was lead by Josie Macko with 11 points, including three three-point shots. Clara Henry had 10 points on the night.
Head Coach Amy Trimble talked about what put the game in their favor in the second half.
In the boys championship, United wins over River Valley 56-40 to remain undefeated and take the title. Coach Matt Rodkey said that they had to adjust when a lot of fouls were called on both sides.
United was lead by Carter Payne with 21 points, Ryan Felix had 15. River Valley’s Nick Mortimer had 11 points and Bryson McDowell had eight. River Valley had 15 turnovers.
