The Steelers yesterday named eight assistant coaches on new head coach Mike McCarthy’s staff. They are:
- Jason Simmons as the defensive pass game coordinator/defensive backs);
- James Campen (offensive line);
- Jahri Evans (assistant offensive line);
- Ramon Chinyoung Sr. (running backs);
- Adam Henry (wide receivers),
- and Steve Scarnecchia was named to the newly-created position of chief of staff.
The Steelers also have retained quarterbacks coach Tom Arth and inside linebackers coach Scott McCurley.
And NFL Network is reporting that Danny Crossman will become the special teams coach after spending last season with Miami.
Scott Tolzien was expected to interview yesterday for offensive coordinator, and the team still has not announced the hiring of Frank Cignetti Jr., the IUP offensive coordinator. The Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac reported yesterday that Cignetti will join the staff, but he did not say what he would be doing.
