For most of the week, temperatures have not gone above 20 degrees, and that trend is expected to continue at least one more day.
Bitter cold temperatures and extremely low wind chills triggered an upgrade from the National Weather Service from a Cold Weather Advisory to an Extreme Cold Warning until 11:00 AM. On top of that, temperatures will dip below zero again tonight, resulting in the seventh straight night where our area has been in a cold weather advisory that runs until the next morning.
Wind chills this morning are expected to get to -20 to -30, while tonight’s wind chills are expected to go to -5 to -15. Any wind chill below -25 degrees is dangerous for exposed skin as frostbite could set in in as little as 30 minutes. People are advised to dress in layers, wear a hat and gloves if you’re going out along with a face mask. People are also advised to continue to take precautions concerning water pipes.
We’ll have the latest from AccuWeather throughout the day and night on Your Hometown Stations and on our website.
