Borough officials in Punxsutawney are clearing snow and preparing for an influx of more than 10,000 visitors ahead of Groundhog Day festivities following a weekend storm that dropped more than 15 inches of snow in parts of Jefferson County.
Authorities say crews are working to ensure roads and public areas are safe as events begin this weekend and continue through Monday.
Pennsylvania State Police announced multiple road and pedestrian closures around Gobbler’s Knob from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Feb. 2, urging visitors to follow designated access routes and dress for cold weather.
