A man is hospitalized after reportedly walking for hours on the frozen Allegheny River in an effort to get away from police.
Pittsburgh officers initially responded to a call about the man trespassing at the former VA hospital site in Highland Park, where they spotted him and he took off, according to officials. Authorities say he then spent about three hours walking on the ice before eventually getting off the frozen river and being arrested on Freeport Road in Harmar.
The man was taken to an area hospital in stable condition. Criminal charges are expected.
