Wednesday, the Indiana County Commissioners signed off on four prime contracts for the upcoming YMCA fitness center addition project.
The general construction contract was awarded to CNC construction of Penn Run for $2.7 million. Electrical work will be done by Sheesley Electric of Indiana for $527,000. The plumbing and HVAC contracts went to Davis Brothers Heating and Air Conditioning of Indiana for $135,427 and $683.388 respectively. After that, some change orders for the project were approved to remove some elements to bring the total cost from just over $4 million to roughly $2.55 million.
Dave Morrow with the county office of planning and development said they will send notices to proceed very soon.
Commissioners also approved a proposal for Act 13 impact fee distribution. For 2024, the county was allocated $87,012 for unconventional wells in the county, and that money will be put towards the Indiana County Fire Academy, the county HAZMAT team and farmland preservation with the rest going to the capital reserve fund. Commissioners also agreed to modify expenditures for allocations from 2014 to 2016. Money from those years will now go towards the purchase of EMA Pagers.
