The Pennsylvania Department of Health says flu activity across Pennsylvania is decreasing at a rapid pace.
The department reported 77,271 lab-confirmed cases of flu for this respiratory virus season as of last Saturday. For the week that ended January 24th, emergency department visits that resulted in a flu diagnosis were moderate across all age groups statewide. The commonwealth has also seen 195 flu-related deaths this year.
While flu is trending downward, RSV activity in the state is increasing rapidly, especially in the infant to four age group. For the week ending January 17th, 1,262 RSV cases were reported in children while 1,744 cases reported in adults. 10,882 lab-confirmed cases have been reported in the state for the season. Emergency department visits are low across the state.
Indiana County has seen 199 cases of lab-confirmed flu along with 17 cases of RSV.
